In their biggest game of the
2006 season,
the Hampshire U16 scratch team took on the might of Sussex and Essex
Junior Golfers at Cottesmore GC near Crawley in Sussex. In the all day
event, a strong Essex team secured a commanding position after the
morning Foursomes to lead Hampshire and Sussex 16 - 10 - 10.
The strong Hampshire team, displaying
outstanding determination in the afternoon singles, showed absolutely no
mercy to either county, eventually winning the event (which went down
to the last putt) - Hants 38, Sussex 36, Essex 34, with notable
performance from Haydn Reay and Sam Robertshaw from Army GC and Chris
Giles from Meon Valley GCC. Team Manager Alan Bailey was delighted.
Rob Gowers, who won both his games,
has just been invited to attend the England U16 squad. |
