THE JUNIOR 4SOMES LEAGUE

MATCH-DAY CHILD WELFARE GUIDELINES

(supporting the League’s policy of providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved)

The Junior 4somes League would like to encourage all participating golf Clubs to follow the guidelines below to help matches run smoothly and to assist with the welfare of junior golfers taking part.  These measures are to be used in conjunction with the Clubs’ own Child Protection policies.

  • The supervising adult should have with them, emergency contact details and medical conditions for each junior, parental consent to act in Loco Parentis, and the support of the club they are acting on behalf of.

  • Clubs are to communicate and inform parents of match schedules, host Club Dress Code, drop-off times, pick-up times, etc., prior to each match and gain verbal parental consent for their child to take part.

  • Make Parents/Carers aware of match-day needs, such as suitable clothing, drink and money.

  • Arrange insured transport well in advance.

  • Explain procedures for match abandonment in case of adverse weather conditions.

  • Ensure each player has a drink, especially on hot days.

  • The supervising adult(s) must stay at the golf club for the duration of the match and with the children until they are back with parents/carers.

  • Supervisors should go through the pre-, during-, and after-match arrangements with each junior to ensure they are aware of arrangements and what to do if a problem occurs.

  • Approach any strangers photographing/videoing.

  • Ensure that each player has a rule book and advise on local rules and competition rules.

  • Have a current print-out of their team’s handicaps.

  • Establish First Aid facilities and record any injuries.

  • Record and report CP incidents to the appropriate person at your Club and to the League Secretary.

  • Ask supporters to give encouragement without distraction.
