Shadows
It’s
probable that somebody has at some time stood with their shadow
affecting your line on the green, tee or fairway. More often than not
this is no more
than
an
innocent oversight. However, even though it’s as old as the hills, the
gamesman might try it.
Even if
accompanied with an apology, the motive could still be dark. It is
important you do not let this affect your game.
If you
detect an unusually high occurrence, adjust your pre-shot routine to
incorporate a polite request to move. Once your opponent realises your
awareness it’s likely the problem will cease. By adopting a calm
attitude (have a smile, it’s so corny it’s almost funny) your opponent
can be left rattled by your strength of character.
Shadows
can be distracting or annoying whenever you play a shot. Do not try
ignoring them, once noticed they may pray on your mind. Simply ask
politely for the owner of the shadow to move.
If your
shot or putt is interrupted by a shadow, STOP. Politely request the
offender to move and re-start your pre-shot routine from the top.
Hopefully your opponent will realise that interrupting your flow will
result in further delay. |
