Can’t hit the green in regulation?

How many times do you loose your cool when your approach shot fails to find the putting surface in regulation? You might be interested to know that even the top European Tour Pro’s can’t manage a flawless round all the time.

Paul Casey

Take Sergio Garcia for example during the 2006 European Tour. He managed to hit just over 86%, whereas Paul Casey made close to 76% and Ernie Els 74.5%.

Now compare that to the strokes per round of the three with Sergio averaging 67.5, Paul just under 70 and Ernie exactly 70.

Sergio Garcia

The message is clear – these guys have got something special around the greens. The ability to get the ball in the hole when all has not gone to plan is what places them amongst the golfing elite.

The Big Easy

So next time you suspect your game is going to pot just because you fail to make the green in regulation remember – you’re not alone. Golf is a game of misses. What counts is the score you make. If you take your game seriously take a leaf from the book of Europe’s best and get practicing on and around the green.
