Movement
An
opponent might distract you by moving or standing in your field of view.
This could be purely accidental or one of those deliberate old
chestnuts.
When used
as gamesmanship this can be particularly off-putting. As with noise
distraction, the fact you notice might suggest you are not fully
focussed. Do not try to ignore it and do not to let it get to you.
Expecting your opponent to move each time you play would clearly
indicate your attention is focussed more on your opponent than your
task, so make sure they are out of view before you start in order to
concentrate fully.
If it
becomes a problem, ask your opponent to move to a position outside your
field of view prior to commencing your pre-shot routine. If distracted
during the performance of a shot, STOP. Speak politely with the offender
and then re-start your pre-shot routine from the top. Hopefully,
your opponent will get fed up with the additional time you need to spend
over your shot and learn to stand still. |
